Best tyres for a Triumph Speed Triple

1 of 1

Q. I’ve just bought a new Triumph Speed Triple for very spirited riding on the roads (well, it’s what it was built for!) and for fast group track days.

As I bought second hand, the tyres on it are almost shot. What do you recommend I fit that will do road and track work with the best grip?

A. You’ve made a fine choice, sir. Here’s what we’d recommend you look at for the best grip.

From Metzeler, the Sportec M3 is very good for road and track. The stock Sportec is also good for the road, yet exceptional on track (but won’t last as long).

Pirelli’s Diablo Corsa III will fit the bill, while the same firm’s Dragon Supercorsa Pro will offer increased performance on the track (with the trade off being reduced life).

The Dunlop GP Racer D209 is pure joy –  really good for road and track, as is the Michelin Power One.

What it might come down to is what sort of deal you can get on price.
