Kawasaki boss suggests full merger with Suzuki

1 of 1

Kawasaki and Suzuki are preparing to come together to launch a new bike within three years under a new and separate brand.

Bloomberg reports Kawasaki Heavy Industries president Masamoto Tazaki as saying: ” It won’t be a Kawasaki, it won’t be a Suzuki it will be a third brand. ”

Earlier this year the firms revealed they were linking up to share some development costs but insisted they were keeping their brands and their line-ups separate.

Now it seems the merger could go much further.

” Suzuki would separate its motorcycle division from its car business and spin it off. Motorcycles are just one part of our company so we could spin that off and join the businesses together, ” Tazaki is reported to have said.

We’ll bring you more on this story as we get it.
