Winners ride Rockingham

Five motorcyclenews.com winners spent a day thrashing around Britain’s newest circuit on Wednesday – Rockingham Speedway. And it wasn’t just the usual infield circuit – our winners got to try the banking, too.

The prizes were given away in conjunction with Carnell-City and Tracktime Promotions. We gave them away in a quick quiz which saw the question being put in the Chat Rooms of Talk Bikes. The first five fastest e-mailed correct answers took the spoils.

Of the five winners, only three had ever been on a track before – the other two didn’t even have suitable leathers. Not a problem though, thanks to Tracktime who thoughtfully provided a Dannisport one-piece suit for each of the riders.

Simon Davies, 31 from Ascot, rode his lightly tweaked SP-1 to the Northamptonshire circuit. ” I enjoy trackdays, ” he says, ” I’ve already done a couple this year and I managed to squeeze ten in last year – but this is just excellent. For some reason I’ve absolutely destroyed both sliders and both toe-sliders ”

” Well, it’s a left-hand circuit, ” butts in fellow winner and VTR1000 rider John Walker.

Anthony Smee, 26, from London was blown away when his toe touched down in the last session. ” All this talk of knee-down, ” he laughs, ” I’ve only had my bike six weeks! It’s the biggest bike I’ve owned and it’s after a five-year layoff too. ”

The organisers were impressed by Smee, who went from ‘The archetypal mobile chicane ” to ” smooth, confident and obviously enjoying every minute ” .

Another winner, Adrian Miflin, added ” I’ll have an advantage on Saturday, me and my mate are booked in for another track day here! ”
