HOW would you feel if you got a brand new Honda Hornet 900 for Christmas? Over the moon, to judge by the reaction of the Riders for Health 2002 raffle winner, Colin Haynes of Grimsby, North Yorks.

The raffle, run at events throughout the year, raised over £25,000 in total and Mr Haynes has already said the new bike will take the place of the 20-year-old BMW he recently had to scrap through old age. He said: ” I was in real need of another bike. I didn’t believe it when I was phoned to tell me that I had won, I thought it was my boss winding me up. It took a long time for the news to sink in. Thank you Honda and thank you Riders. You have made my Christmas! ”

Jeanette Wragg, events manager for Riders for Health, said: ” Honda have generously donated a bike to the Riders raffle for the last five years. The total raised this year for our life saving work in Africa reached a whopping great £26,000. Thank you to every one who bought a ticket. I can tell you that Colin has already bought £40-worth of tickets for next years competition. ”
