SmartWater spray could mark out bike thieves

1 of 1

Security specialists SmartWater is asking for your help to refine a new system which would mark out anyone who tried to steal a bike.

The best idea will win one of its current security marking systems.

The new kit can spray luminous liquid over anyone who tampers with your machine. The stain lasts for weeks, it can’t be washed off and the coating contains tiny DNA-like particles unique to each kit. Cops would see who had been up to know good, catching them luminous-faced if not red-handed.

At the moment it has been designed for cars, but the MCN Award-winning firm wants your ideas to adapt it for bikes.

Boss Phil Cleary said: ” If riders out there have any suggestions, we’d love to hear them. ”

In a car, the spray’s nozzles are inside, so the thief is coated as soon as he gets in. How could that work on a bike?

Send your suggestion to SmartWater at: PO Box 23, Newport, Shrops, TF10 7UX.
