Future GP riders wanted

1 of 1

You could be hanging out with some of Britain’s top riders in the sumptuous Red Bull Rookie team hospitality unit watching all the action at the British GP, if you, or a teenager you know, have ambitions to be a bike racer.

It wants to meet 10 young riders, and one guardian apiece, between 14 and 18 years old at MCN Donington Park on the weekend of the British GP to get an idea of their prospects.

You’ll be invited on Saturday, with two of the 10 invited back for further chats, and the race itself, on Sunday. There are no guarantees, but one of our winners could be a future recruit for the Red Bull Rookie squad.

Team bosses will take the opportunity to judge whether or not you could cut it. You don’t need to have any race experience or even experience on a bike. Desire, ambition and personality are all key qualities.

Midge Smart and Guy Farbrother have already proved a big hit in their first campaigns with the Red Bull Rookie squad in national 125s this year. Now the search is on for the next crop of emerging talent.

The event will be hosted at the Fogarty Esses, so don’t worry, you won’t miss anything out on the track.

All you need to do is answer the following question: Who are the current Red Bull Rookie riders?

E-mail your answer, brief CV and notes explaining why you think you should be given this opportunity, to matthew.birt@emap.com Applications must arrive by Monday, July 8, 2002. All entrants must be aged 14-18.
