South Wales protest ride

Riders in south Wales are organising a protest ride against what they claim is heavy-handed policing.

The zero-tolerance policy of Gwent and Dyfed-Powys police forces towards undersized numberplates and loud pipes has seen hundreds of riders stopped and their bikes examined by teams from the local Vehicle Inspectorate.

Now there’s a protest ride from Abergavenny Bus Station to Llandovery, the two biggest bike meets, at 30mph on June 23.

Organiser Paul Henson has 500 signatures on a petition and expects as many to be on the protest. He said: ” We call the police the Viet-Cong now. The interest in the protest has been unbelievable and we need to do something. ”
