Cut your costs with bargain rubber

1 of 1

MCN has been shopping around to find you the best deals on tyres and discovered savings of up to £120 a pair.

We target seven popular sets of rubber in today’s MCN (Wednesday, March 10) to see the kind of savings specialist tyre dealers can offer compared to list price. We found Dunlop 207s for £159 a pair, Bridgestone BT020s for £180 and Pirelli Diablos for £189. You’ll find more savings in our Insider section in MCN this week.

See tomorrow’s motorcyclenews.com for our first test on new rubber from Metzeler.

Here’s our top tips for replacing your tyres.

Shop around. Our sample survey found prices were slightly cheaper in the south of the country than the north.

If you can, take your wheels off your bike. Many tyre specialists fit tyres free to loose wheels.

Replace tyres in pairs if you want the best from your rubber. It means you’ll get a matching profile front and rear, for the best handling.

Use tyres that fit your needs. Super stickies are pointless if most of your miles are motorway commutes. You’ll square them off in no time.

Get friendly with a racer and you could find yourself with access to a cheap supply of part-worn rubber they’ll let go cheap after a race. It’s a good option if you’re a track day addict.
