Iran's bike firms boom

Just when you’d got used to the booming bike industries of India and China… here comes Iran.

Exports of bike from Iran are expected to be worth two million US dollars by March next year – according to Iran Daily.

There are 100 bike factories in the country – and only 15 per cent are currently building bikes. Afghanistan is the key market with half of the exported bikes going there.

And regulators are getting tough with factories, setting new quality control standards. Any firm which fails to meet them within set time frames will be closed down.
