Harris pulls out of meet

Honda British Superbike rider Karl Harris has had to pull out of the launch of Humberside’s 2006 Bike Safe at the Humber Bridge car park this Sunday April 23.

The Sheffield-based racer had been enlisted by the local law to help raise awareness of the 2006 campaign. Unfortunately he’s had an accident while riding at Oulton so can’t attend.

Visitors can still get feedback on their riding and advice about improving your technique.

Recently, Karl and HM Plant Honda British Superbike team mate Ryuichi Kiyonari took time out to hand over a Honda VFR and a CBR1000RR Fireblade to Humberside Police. The bikes were donated to the force by George Petch from Wheels of Grimsby and Miles Kingsport of Hull.

Karl said: “It’s a great scheme and I would recommend it to everyone that rides on the roads. Even the best riders can learn something. To have the opportunity to learn from really experienced riders is mint.”

Sgt Chris Hood added: “BikeSafe has a progressive approach to riding, and we would particularly like to see superbike riders come along and join us this weekend. They will have the chance to ride out with us and get some valuable free advice.”
