More rear facing Gatsos

Speed cameras in Northamptonshire will become rear-facing to help identify speeding motorcycles, with camera upgrades starting this week, April 17-23.

The first camera to be modified is located on Wellingborough Road in Northampton, with other units being upgraded over the course of the year.

“It will make it much easier to identify any motorcyclists who choose to ignore the speed limits as most motorbikes tend to have only rear registration plates,” said Safety Camera Partnership Manager Chris Hume. “Our mobile cameras have always been able to monitor traffic travelling in both directions but our fixed sites have been limited to front facing.”
