Used prices forced down

1 of 1

Great news if you’re ready to buy your next bike: used prices are coming under pressure as a result of rock bottom new bike pricing and weak demand for the 06 machines, according to Eurotax Glass’s Motorcycle Editor Randall Thomas.

Thomas says another factor making life tough for dealers is the increase in private sales of second-hand motorcycles, particularly online. Attractive online prices are tempting prospective buyers away from showrooms.

“Buyers are becoming educated to expect lower purchase prices,” adds Thomas.

He says uncertainty in the marketplace is leading to some wide variations in advertised prices on motorcycles. Prices can differ by as much as £1000 for apparently identical mass-market machines on the same recent plate with similar mileages.
