June 11, 2006 rideout

1 of 9

Great rideout today, went to Kircudbright in the borders, 260 miles of very twisty riding. Surprisingly it was organised by the police! Not traffic police but other depts. (basically just a collection of cops who have/are into bikes)   My mate invited me along, he has a dream job and works as an undercover police biker. Ie. he has two police unmarked sportsbikes to ride and gets involved in ‘tailing’ suspects on the move. Oh, he is also pretty quick as you might imagine! Good turn out …18 bikes showed up…no rain….brilliant sunshine…no crashes…. no speeding tickets…top roads…..top fun. ….but very knackering (must be getting old! ).
Route included  A702 Abington – New Galloway …then A762 New Galloway – Kircudbright. On the way back another good road was the A713 New Galloway – Dalmellington. My mate, Tommy, video’d the fun using his home made video mount on the forks of his Ducati ..(works surprisingly well!)
Check out the cost of petrol in Kircudbright …£1.00 a litre! Jings!
