Map firm Ride to Work

The Ride to Work day took place on Wednesday, July 19, 2006, and one firm that encouraged its employees to take to two wheels was map maker Ordnance Survey.

Staff at the national mapping agency who decided to ride to the Southampton head office got a free breakfast as a reward for cutting congestion and promoting motorcycling. The agency also conducted a survey of staff to find out how facilities for using bikes and scooters could be improved further.

"We provide showers and a bike park at our head office for staff who always ride or cycle," said Ordnance Survey’s Dan Mascall. "We’re hoping to enocurage other colleagues to join them – doing their bit for the environment and reducing the number of cars travelling to the site."
