If you’re looking at buying a new bike then this coming week is the best time of the summer to buy one from your local dealer, according to Parker’s Price Guide.

All the motorcycle manufacturers have set sales targets for dealers and reaching these brings salesmen lucrative bonuses. With it now approaching the end of the month, if salesmen are a few bikes short of target, they are more likely to sell a new bike for little or no profit just to earn the bonus.

Kieren Puffett, Editor of Parker’s Used Bike Guide, told MCN: “This month is by far the best time to go out and secure a deal on a new bike. Sales of new bikes this year have not gone so well and dealers are now trying to entice customers into showrooms before the summer runs out.”

But the caveat on getting a new bike bargain this week depends on the dealer and the type of bike. Puffett adds: “Currently, the bikes for people to look out for are litre sportsbikes like R1s, Fireblades or Aprilia RSV-Rs.

Also look out for pre-reg machines or those which haven’t caught the imagination of the biking press. Even deals on incredible bikes like the R6 and 675 are within reach – if you go for the demo models.”

Puffett also says that price is important , but it’s the overall deal that bikers should look for, dealers can offer free delivery, servicing or even through in some accessories.
