Top tips for a bargain

1 of 1

If you want to get a bargain from a dealer there are a few key things to remember. Here’s our top five tips for getting a good deal:

1) The magic phrase to say is: “I am going to compare prices and values with your competitors.” Chances are that dealer will not want to let you walk away.

2) Don’t be intimidated by the salesman, be confident and take your time. Ask the question “What’s the best deal you can offer me”.

3) Make sure a large discount on a new or secondhand bike isn’t offset by high interest rates or a poor price for your existing bike.

4) Make sure the deal is right for you – don’t buy a bike you will sell in five years and borrow the money over a period of 10 years. Paying the money back early may also mean you will be charged, so check the small print.

5) It’s sometimes cheaper to haggle a large discount on a bike and take a low rate loan out instead of paying out the full price and paying at 0% interest.
