Watch out on Friday

1 of 1

Watch out if you go for a ride on Friday, September 29, as it’s the most dangerous day of the year for motorcyclists, according to bike insurance firm Bennetts.

The firm has revealed there is a 130 per cent increase on claims on the 29th, with data revealing the car most likely to be involved in a bike accident is a Vauxhall Corsa, followed by the VM Golf, Ford Mondeo, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta. This is the second year in a row a Vauxhall has been the best car to avoid as the Vauxhall Astra was top of the list in 2005.

Luckily you’ll get a chance to relax after Friday, as the second and third most dangerous days are July 13 and June 7, with Christmas being the safest. Probably because most people are either at home, in the pub, or avoiding cold weather. And you’ll have more reason to take care if you’re riding in the Suuth West or South East London, as they are the riskiest area.

“Bennetts hope that by releasing these statistics it will make both drivers and riders more aware of each other and encourage them to take more care on the roads,” said managing director Kal Samra.
