The rider shot dead on the M40 on Sunday has been named as Gerry Tobin.

Tobin, 35, worked as a mechanic for Warr’s Harley-Davidson in London.

He was killed by a single shot to the back of the head while returning from the weekend’s Bulldog Bash at Long Marston Airfield near Stratford.

Warr’s was closed today but owner Rob Warr confirmed Tobin had been an employee. He declined to comment further.

Police are appealing to witnesses to the shooting, between junction 12 and 13 of the M40 southbound at 2.20pm.

Warwickshire Police said in a statement: “Officers would like to hear from any motorists travelling on the A46 near to junction 15 with the M40 and anyone travelling on the M40 who may have witnessed the car and who could describe the driver and any passengers.”
