Britain’s fuel prices highest in Europe

1 of 1

Britain’s motorists pay the most tax on fuel in the EU, paying a massive 65.2p tax and duty for every £1 of petrol.

The average price of unleaded petrol at the current time is 108.56p pre litre – up by almost 26p from last year according to the AA. These tax increases mean that the government are earning an extra £117 million a month in VAT.

The rise in prices has already sparked outrage among several motoring organisations, and many are predicting protests when the 2p per litre fuel duty comes in on October 1.
