Ex-Shell boss calls for ban on sub-30mpg cars

1 of 1

Former chairman of Shell Sir Mark Moody-Stuart has called for a ban on the sale of all cars that achieve less than 35mpg.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, he said: “Nobody needs a car that does 10-15 mpg. We need very tough regulation saying that you can’t drive or build something less than a certain standard.

“You would be allowed to drive an Aston Martin – but only if it did 50-60mpg.”
