ROUND the ISLE 2008

All donation and sponsorship proceeds for the tour are going to the Cancer Research UK charity. In 2005 I lost a grand parent to cancer. In 2007 I lost my mother in law to cancer. Also in 2007 I lost my step father, my biking buddy, to a very sudden bowel disorder.

Now I have finally brought a thought in my mind to fruition. The inspiration I gained was from the television programme The Long Way Down & The Long Way Round and from the loss of the above mentioned members of my family.

I am to ride my motorbike, Yamaha Fazer 600 around the coast of the British Isle on A and B roads only heading from my home city of Carlisle heading to the north western coast of Scotland.

Then travel acros this coast to John O’Groats before heading south down the east coast to the south east of England. Riding then across to Land’s End before heading into Wales and hugging its coast before the final trip north back to the finish line in Carlisle.

I will be alone on the motorbike and I will have my good friend Stephen Parker following in a support vehicle laden with necessary provisions for the journey.

The journey will proceed at 08:30 on Saturday 5th July 2008 and will include eight night stop overs under canvas and all being well we will cross the finish line on 13th July 2008.

I will be posting place names where we wll be stopping for fuel/rests and stop overs on the donations web page so keep an eye out, we may be in a place near you.

The journey will total 3000 miles and the aim is to raise at least £1 per mile. More would be a massive advantage.

If you would be so kind to visit my web page and make a small donation and mention in your comment you read this from MCN.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this far and would also like to thank you for making a donation towards my target. Many thanks Mark Thorburn & Stephen Parker
