"I rode around the world – then my motorcycle got nicked in the UK"

A motorcycle adventurer told how he rode around the world on his BMWR80RT only to have it nicked when got back to the UK.

Gavin Francis, 32, rode from his home in Edinburgh to Australia and back, passing through dangerous and lawless regions of Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.

On returning a month ago he parked the BMW outside a friend’s house in Edinburgh – and the next time he looked it was gone.

Police found the motorcycle vandalised in a street nearby.

Francis said: “I’ve parked that bike in Beruit, Amman and Delhi, and it spends one night in Edinburgh and gets stolen.”
