Isle of Man TT Inquest update

1 of 1

Marshals giving evidence at the inquest into a triple fatality at last year’s TT have given eyewitness accounts of the accident which killed racer Marc Ramsbotham and two spectators.

Dean Jacob from Kidderminster and Australian Gregory Kenzig were killed when Ramsbotham’s bike came off the course at the 26th milestone. Ramsbotham, from Norfolk, also died.

The coroner’s court was told that the race was not stopped, so paramedics had to wait for it to be clear before crossing the live course with stretchers to take the injured to a helicopter.

Witnesses recounted seeing Ramsbotham’s head hit a roadside post as he entered the corner, leading to the accident which sent his bike into spectators on an embankment beside the course.

The area where the spectators were standing was intended to be restricted, but the inquest was told no signs were present to deter them and marshals positioned there were not aware it was a prohibited area for spectators.

The inquest continues.
