Avon unveils new VP2 tyre

1 of 3

Add some British flair to your Japanese sportsbike with the latest rubber from Avon Tyres.

The firm will launch its first multi-compound tyre, the VP2, in 2009 to replace its current Viper tyre.

There are three tyres in the range. The Sport and Supersport are made for road use, and have soft compound rubber on the edge of the tyre, with a tougher compound in the middle.

The carcass has tightly-woven steel bands in the middle for durability, while bands on the edge are wound more loosely so they flex more, for better grip.

The Xtreme uses the same carcass design, but has a super-sticky rubber compound and minimal tread pattern.

All three come in a wide range of sizes to fit most current sportsbikes. They cost £190 per pair.
