New Transatlantic Challenge DVD

1 of 1

You can now re-live some classic showdowns in a new DVD featuring the 1988 and 1991 Transatlantic races, featuring some of the greats of motorcycle racing history.

The 1988 meeting, named the Eurolantic Challenge to reflect the fact the USA stars would face rivals from around Europe, was a two-day grudge match as a six-race series unfolded at Brands Hatch and Donington.

The US team was filled with superbike experts, including Doug Polen and Bubba Shobert, while the Euro-squad boasted British greats Ron Haslam, Roger Burnett, Roger Marshall and Trevor Nation alongside European colleagues like Swede Anders Andersson.

After an absence of three years, the contest returned in 1991. Now called the Transatlantic Challenge again, the greats of the United States (led by Freddie Spencer) would battle the Best of British (Haslam, John Reynolds, Foggy, Whitham, McElnea, Mackenzie and Stringer).

It was supposed to be about national pride, but the Brits were so dominant it soon became a fight for individual bragging rights like the incredible dice between Haslam and McElnea in the very last race!

Transatlantic Challenge 1988 & 1991 is out now on DVD, priced at £15.65 and available from leading video outlets or direct from Duke Video (01624-640000, www.dukevideo.com).
