Top five race replicas for 2010

1 of 5

If you’re a fan of race replica helmets then 2010 will be a very good year to choose from.

Here’s just five to be thinking about for next year.

Chris Vermeulen Shoei X-Spirit 2 – £580

The X-Spirit 2 is brand new in 2010 and is the revolution of the massively popular X-Spirit race lid.

This Vermeulen design is the Aussie’s replica he used all the way through the 2009 campaign and is a tribute to his mentor, Barry Sheene.

Jorge Lorenzo X-lite X802 Spaceman – £449.99

Jorge Lorenzo didn’t just take it to Valentino Rossi on the track in 2009, he also pushed the Italian superstar for the most amount of special one off helmet designs in one season.

The 22-year olds best effort was this Spaceman lid he wore to victory at the Estoril GP. It was designed to mark the anniversary of the first moon landing, hence the astronaut design.

Jonathan Rea Arai RX7-GP – £589.99

British fans have been waiting a while for this one – an official Jonathan Rea replica Arai. The design is the black and white colour scheme the Irishman wore at the final round of the 2009 WSB Championship at Portimao.

It’s due to be in dealers in January, and if it proves successful we hope we might get to see some more colour option on the Ten Kate Honda man’s design.

Valentino Rossi AGV GP Tech Donkey – £499.99

This is probably Rossi’s best helmet design other than the Face helmet from last year. He used it at Misano in 2009 as a joke aimed at himself for crashing out of the Indianapolis GP the race before.

Rossi, who said he felt like a donkey for crashing out of second, took victory at Misano and completed the theme with donkey ears on the podium.

Only 300 of these are coming to the UK mind, so don’t expect to see them of dealer shelves – you’ll have to pre-order.

Airoh GP Replica James Toseland – £375

The Airoh GP Replica line is the latest racing replica helmet range to be revealed as worn by many stars in racing at the moment. As well as JT the list of replicas include Hector Barbera, Julian Simon and Andrea Ianonne.

The Toseland replica should be a good seller in the UK, especially if the two-time WSB Champion can make it a hat-trick is 2010.
