Busy year ahead for Niall Mackenzie

Triple British Superbike champion Niall Mackenzie will have a busy year ahead of him as both his sons will be racing in 2009.

Niall’s eldest son Taylor, 15, is about to begin his second season in the British 125 championship under the Rob Mac banner and will also be racing as part of the Red Bull Rookie Cup.

And now Mackenzie’s youngest son has decided to take up motorcycle racing and will be in the Aprilia Superteens series.

Speaking at the celebrity interviews at the London Motorcycle Show at ExCeL, Mackenzie said: “We sat down last week and worked out the season and we will basically be all over the country and won’t have a free weekend for the whole season but I don’t mind, they are keen and it’s good they are enjoying motorcycling like I do.”

Mackenzie himself is still busy working with Focussed Events as a tutor at track days and was at the Yamaha R1 launch a fortnight ago.
