Police warn of bike theft spate in North Warwickshire

Police in North Warwickshire are warning bikers and owners of Husqvarnas in particular to fully secure their bikes and change their routines.

The warning came after five off-road bikes were stolen between 18-23 July – three of them Huskies.

“This is a cluster of crimes in a small area that’s most unusual” says DC Tim Lowe of Warwickshire police. “We don’t get many Husqvarnas stolen, so to have this many in such a short space of time suggests it’s more than a coincidence” he adds.

Among the bikes stolen is this 1964 Wasp Jawa – a hand-built and nearly unique classic scrambler worth £20,000.

“My father sweat blood and tears to build that bike” says owner Tim Manton, who lost three bikes and a Mercedes Sprinter van (registration V61 JMA).

Any information should be passed to Warwickshire Police – tel. 01926 415000.
