When did the bike become the new car?

I’m miffed!  No I’m more than miffed and I’m sure alot of others out there are feeling like I do about the parking charge. The cost of my commute into London has risen 50% since the inception of the parking fees.  More so if you include the cost of the fine I just got handed for forgetting about the fee.

My ride in to the city centres around my safety, some slight enjoyment shared with the other bikers on my route and whether or not Mr. BMW will decide he needs to prove he’s not a dick by racing a biker – well done sir, you just beat a GS500 off the line… the £1,000 I bought her for was truly a waste, see you at the next set in 20 metres… but I digress…

What I’m miffed about is not Mr. BMW, not today, I’m miffed at the £80 fine for not paying the £1.10 charge!  80 squid!?  I know cars have to pay that for not paying the £10 they have to pay to take up 5 times the space. So for them that’s 8 times the cost of parking, which sounds reasonable. I think I could still pay 10 times the cost for a mistake on my part and just be upset – but over 50 times!  You must be joking!

Seriously, I’m soo annoyed by this I going to ride home in anger.  See you in hospital for my free health care… then we’ll see who’s laughing in 6-10 months.
