Honda celebrates 50 years since its first Isle of Man TT

It’s 50 years since Soichiro Honda first took his motorcycles to a small island in the Irish sea, intent on making his childhood dream of racing glory a reality.

To celebrate and commemorate 50 years of Honda racing heritage, the company has produced a website dedicated to their history, featuring rare & unseen video, photos and a detailed history of Honda’s racing efforts.

Back in 1954, Soichiro Honda realised what racing success at the Isle of Man TT could do for his company. He issued a passionate statement to his workers: “We can win on the tracks, and I will not rest until we do. Everything is in place, and the time has come to challenge the West.

“I hereby avow my definite intention to participate in the TT races, and I proclaim with my fellow employees that I will pour in all of my energy and creative powers to win.”

You can read the full statement on the Honda minisite, which will be updated over the coming month with even more content.
