Oxford Hardcore XL high security chain and padlock

This chain and lock is tough, heavy and reassuring. I’ve used it for a couple of weeks to secure bikes in my back garden, which is in a less than desirable area. It’s got a 100% success rate so far. Job done.

The lock and chain are covered to stop them scratching your bike, but there is no disguising that a very heavy chain is protecting your pride and joy.

You can’t close the lock without the key in, which seems initially annoying. Then you realise it means you can’t accidentally lock your bike to something without being able to unlock it which is perfect for imbeciles like me.

The set comes with three keys so you can give one to someone responsible and still have a spare. The only bad thing I could say about it is that it’s pretty heavy so it’s not something to carry around touring or on a commute if you can help it. Instead get an extra one so you have a lock at work and one at home.
