Donington will host bank holiday BSB

Donington Park has been given the go-ahead to stage the third round of the British Superbike Championship on May 23-25.

There was speculation whether the track would pass an inspection imposed by the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board (MCRCB) because of the structural changes being made to the circuit to prepare it for the 2010 Formula One Grand Prix.
But the inspection team found the circuit is up to scratch for next weekend’s event, and circuit boss Simon Gillett is delighted.

“This outcome is what we expected,” he said. “We have a great season of motorcycle racing in store for fans, we are now just looking for people to step up to the plate and come along to the event.”

Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of  BSB Commercial and Organisational rights holder MSVR said: “I am pleased  that MCRCB has been able to grant the necessary licence and permit, and  with the BSB championship producing some of the closest racing ever in  2009 we can now look forward to an exciting next round at Donington over  the Bank Holiday weekend.”
