New Bling Pot lids from Bitwell Inc helmets

1 of 3

No it’s not April 1 – you can really buy one of these helmets, if you are brave enough to do so.

They’re produced by US helmet manufacture Bitwell Inc and this particular design is called the Megaflake (insert ooh’s and aah’s here).

It uses the same shell as the other Bitwell designs but the flake is much bigger and visual.

It has vintage style chrome strips around the opening and a new liner now has detail stitching and contrasting ventilated panels in the top.

The shell is injection-moulded ABS plastic but the helmets are non-DOT-approved (the US equivalent to ECE in Europe) because there is no EPS inner shell as the lid is designed to fit close to the skull

Bitwell claim they do not use EPS because: “nobody wants to look like a bobble head doll when they’re riding their chopper.”

The open-cell foam padding inside the helmet features a moisture wicking fleece Lycra liner for cool, dry comfort.

The Megaflake costs $99 (around £60) and is currently only available in America.
