Whitham pledges help for cancer

Ex-racer and TV commentator Jamie Whitham has pledged his help in an online prize draw to raise money for a motorcyclists’ family left after he recently died of cancer.

Prizes will include a flight with Whitham in his own plane and flying out from his own airstrip, £100 of gift vouchers to spend at Earnshaws motorcycles, British Superbike tickets and a place on a Speed Freaks track day in October among others.

The prize draw was originally set up to send Lee Barker to America for pioneering treatment for cancer. Whitham vowed to help after successfully beating Hodgkin’s disease. Since Barker’s death on August 26, the fundraising has switched to raising money for his widow and young baby.

Whitham said: “I wanted to do something to help and the flight was just a small gesture of help.”

To take part in the prize draw all you have to do is pledge £5.99 through PayPal.
Details: abbeyspider@hotmail.com or cheques /postal orders to Kelly barker c/o 28 Exley Lane, Elland, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX50SW.

The draw will take place on September 21.
