Video: Dougie Lampkin’s back!

Trials legend Dougie Lampkin is back with a new Nissan-funded video available exclusively on motorcyclenews.com. MCN caught up with Lampkin on the set of the video shoot.

He told us how his haul of 12 world championship wins – from utterly dominating the Trials scene from 1997 to 2003 – has eased the pressure on him and allowed him to become an ambassador for Trials riding. He said:

“It’s great at this stage of my career to be able to enjoy things a bit more, to feel less pressure from myself to be the best after so much success over the years. I can make it a little bit more fun now, which is what this video is about.

“I think events like this help to promote Trials as a sport, and they have to. There are so many extreme sports out there nowadays, more things for people to focus on, and I’m trying to make Trials one of them.”

Beyond promoting Trials riding, Dougie’s ambition for 2011 is competing in what he calls, “the biggest event of the year on the extreme enduro side”: the Erzberg Rodeo in Austria. The four-day, 1500-rider-strong enduro event is held in an old iron-mining site and is commonly regarded as being the toughest challenge on the off-road calendar. It starts on 23 June.
