You'd want to stay out of the fast group at this one...

I am at the Focused Events track day at the new Silverstone Circuit riding the Team Vari-Trac BMW Park Lane S1000RR I’m racing this season.

Theoretically, on this bike, I should be one of the faster riders out there.

It hasn’t quite worked out that way. I’ve just been out on track in the fast group and was buzzed by a certain Randy de Puniet  – the MotoGP rider who spent last weekend giving Casey Stoner grief at the Mugello GP.         

Randy is on a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade from Ron Haslam Racing School. Then there was Eugene Laverty -­ currently leading the World Supersport Championship – on a stealth coloured WSB bike and Glen Richards (ex British Supersport champion), James Westmoreland (British Supersport), Billy McConnell (British Supersport) and Kenny Noyes (Moto2 front runner).     

Despite the speed of the BMW it’s fair to say I am having my hat nailed on.
