New Uvex visor changes tint automatically!

The visor on this Uvex GT500 helmet might look like any other, but – as unveiled at this week’s Cologne bike show – it’s actually a very clever, battery operated visor that changes from clear to tinted automatically, depending on light conditions.

The ‘variotronic’ double lens is powered by a rechargeable battery and Uvex claim it changes tint “in milliseconds”. There’s also a manual override.

The GT500 helmet will be available in the UK next March or April, with either the standard or variotronic visor system. The standard helmet will cost £349.99, while the new visor adds an extra £230.
