Trackdays get transponders

1 of 1

Trackday company Focused Events will have ‘Chrono Days’ this year, where each rider carries a transponder to allow organisers to put people in the right groups.

Focused Events have assessed the transponder system using feedback from instructors including Neil Hodgson, James Whitham, Niall Mackenzie, Steve Plater, John Reynolds and Simon Crafar.

Riders’ times will be monitored and they will be allocated into the correct groups – particularly important for newer trackdayers. Riders will be sent their times after the event.

Ex-World Superbike Champion and committed Focused Events instructor Neil Hodgson has assessed the new system. He said: “Transponders add another dimension to a trackday. Sure, it’s nice to know how you’ve progressed after the event but more than anything it encourages people to maybe be a little more ‘honest’ with themselves about their group level. Ultimately there is a massive range of ability on trackdays and this helps group riders accordingly.”

Focused will roll out a number of these enhanced Chrono Days as follows;

  • 3rd March – Brands Hatch Indy £105
  • 4th March – Mallory Park £89
  • 22nd March – Cadwell Park £85
  • 5th April – Brands Hatch £149
  • 14th April – Cadwell Park £99
  • 4th June – Rockingham £155
  • 17th June – Rockingham £115
  • 21st June – Oulton Park £169
  • 23rd June – Cadwell Park £105
  • 30th June – Cadwell Park £105
