Yamaha Classic Racing Team display at Donington Park

Racing fans will have a chance to see a special collection of Yamaha racing machines, in a celebration of 40 years of the TZ racer, this weekend at Donington Park.

Not only will you be able to see the 22-strong display of Yamaha Classic Racing Team machines, which include 70s TZ two-stroke racers, FZs, FZRs and OW-01s, Haga’s R7 and a 2011 YZR-M1 MotoGP bike flown from Japan especially for the event, they’ll be ridden by the stars during special parade laps over the two days.

Riders include Steve Baker, Phil Read, Steve Parish, Jamie Whitham and Rob McElnea.

MCN Senior Road Tester Michael Neeves will also be riding two of Jarno Saarinen’s two-stroke GP machines on Saturday, as part of a feature MCN is putting together celebrating the life of the then rising Grand Prix star, Jarno Saarinen, who lost his life at Monza in 1973.

The Classic Motorcycle Racing Club will also be at the Derbyshire track with a full program of racing, including the European Vintage Cup, ACU UK Post Classic 350cc Championship and the Wheatcroft Trophy Race.

Tickets are available on the gate: £15 a day, or £25 for the weekend.
