Pic gallery: Masters of Dirt prepare for Wembley

Freestyle motocross extravaganza Masters of Dirt (MoD) comes to the UK for the first time in the show’s 10 year history in March, and – after watching the show – MCN can highly recommend it.

If you’re new to freestyle motocross (FMX), as I was, the show destroys any preconceptions of what you think might happen.

For a start it stars not just the world’s best freestyle motocrossers, but also  top level BMXers, mountain bikers, quads riders and snowmobilists. Plus there’s the Fuel Girls and a live DJ set from DJ Mosaken.

With riders such as 2009 X Games winner Bilko Williams the tricks are always special yet look incredibly easy.

The show itself has a really relaxed atmosphere, and you can tell the riders absolutely love it – at the end of the show in Vienna nearly all of them hung around with some of the motocross riders attempting the BMX jumps while the push bike lads had a go at FMX.

If, like me prior to this show, you’ve only ever seen FMX on Youtube, I’d thoroughly recommend going. I would never have sat down and watched more than five minutes of it on TV, so I was unsure how they’d fill three hours with stunts without it all seeming the same. But Masters of Dirt succeeded in keeping my jaw on the floor for the entirety. Totally rad, dude!

The show heads to the Wembley Arena, London on March 14, before travelling north to the MEN Arena in Manchester on March 16. A week later the show has three nights at City West in Dublin – March 23, 24 and 25. Tickets start at £37.25, and go up to £109.75 for VIP. More information at www.mastersofdirt.com.
