Let your children ride for free

1 of 6

If you have ever wanted to let you young children have a go at riding a motorcycle then a free trial at Motorcycle Live might be the perfect test for those aged between two and 12-years-old thanks to a trial with Kuberg electric bikes.

To see what the bikes were like MCN was invited to a test day where an example of both the smallest Kuberg Start and the Kuberg Cross were available for some of our kids aged between five and 11. The range of ability of the children was very mixed; starting with a five-year-old who had only been off stabilisers for two weeks, through to experienced off-road riding nine-year-olds.

The overall impression was hugely positive for all the children and they all loved the morning riding and because the bikes were all electric there was no noise to upset neighbours. Even more impressive was all of the bikes we rode managed to last almost two-hours despite constant use between all of the different children before the batteries went flat.

The bikes we tested included the Start model which is the entry-level machine, costs £750 but with a seat height just 16in (40cm) and weight below 45lbs (20.5 kg), the Start is designed for riders from two to five-years-old. The chain is fully covered for safety and the parental speed dial control means you can make it slower for the less experienced.

The Kuberg Cross is for more experienced riders aged between five and 12-years-old and costs £1195. It will carry and adult up to 100kg (15st 7lb) although it’s not that comfortable as the bike is pretty small. The electric motor in this bike has more than enough power to generate wheelspin and for the more experienced riders to slide the bike in the mud.

Kuberg will have a test area available at the Motorcycle Live event at the NEC in Birmingham from November 23 through to December 1.
