Ducati charity challenge

Ian Wood will be riding solo from John O’Groats to Land’s End on his 1979 Ducati 900 GTS for Dementia UK.

Ian from Northamptonshire will leave Jack’s Hill Café, Towcester on April 17 and ride up to Scotland’s most northern point, back down to Land’s End and then back to Towcester. The 1800-mile trip is equivalent to two end-to-end journeys. To complete the trip in six days Ian plans to be in the saddle for 300 miles a day.

The 52-year-old from Daventry is taking up the challenge to raise money for Dementia UK, a charity who are committed to improving quality of life for all people affected by dementia. The trip is in memory of Ian’s late mother who passed away in 2013 after a seven-year battle with dementia.

Ian said: “I’m going to have to get used to the idea of spending seven hours a day in the saddle on my boneshaker of a bike. I have my fingers crossed that the winter snow has cleared up too! Please give as much or as little as you can so I can reach my donation goal and help others who are facing a far more difficult journey”.
