Silverstone's Wing takes off

1 of 1

While Rossi may have raised many a roof across the country on Sunday evening as he stormed to his first win of 2015 in Qatar, the roof was quite literally getting raised at Silverstone.

High winds on Sunday night caused some damage, and as it howled across Northamptonshire again last night a large section of the relatively new Wing building took off. Someone had obviously forgotten to set the flaps to the correct position.

Silverstone told MCN this morning: “During the periods of extreme weather that hit Northamptonshire on Sunday afternoon and again on Monday night the Silverstone site experienced some wind damage, the most significant being to the roof of the Silverstone Wing. The engineers are currently assessing the damage and working with us to ensure minimal disruption to our customers while repairs are taking place.”

There’s no doubt that reparations will be finished by the time the circuit hosts the 2015 British GP, on August 30. Today is your last chance to get the cheapest ticket offer (the special deal ends at midnight tonight) – so head to the Silverstone MotoGP website now to take advantge of their ‘Welcome Back’ deal.

Hopefully we’ll be blowing the roof off again on August 30 celebrating some British wins.
