MCN 60 greatest bikes; staff picks

1 of 3

MCN has turned 60 this year and what better way to celebrate this milestone than by naming the top 60 bikes of all time as voted for by you. All this week we will be choosing some of our favourites from the list. For the full 60 greatest bikes and further details, pick up a copy of this week’s MCN, out Wednesday.

Here is Senior Road Tester, Michael Neeves’ selection of the bikes you voted for:

Honda RC30

This was the stuff of dreams back in 1987 when it was released and even judging it by today’s standards, it’s still a breathaking superbike. Few bikes flatter the rider like an RC30, or sound as sexy. It’s a proper icon.

BMW HP4

Few bikes are as quick as the HP4 in road trim, but it’s particularly special to me because I raced one in 2014, complete with its electronic semi-active DDC suspension. It’s brutally fast, but is somehow still easy to ride, which is a neat trick.

Suzuki RGV250

I had two RGV250s back in the day, so they mean a lot to me. I had the first K model and the sexy N, with its banana swingarm. It was a crisp, mini-version of Schwantz’s RGV500 and went round corners faster than anything.
