Suzuki RGV500 tears up Coventry ring road

Coventry’s ring road was engulfed in blue smoke over the weekend as Nathan Columbi of Team Classic Suzuki let rip on Kenny Roberts Jr’s championship-winning Suzuki RGV500.

It wasn’t an act of complete lunacy, but a promotional event for this year’s Coventry Motofest, which takes place June 4-5 and aims to celebrate all forms of motoring and transport from buses and taxis to MotoGP bikes.

During the event Kevin Schwantz’s 1994 Suzuki RGV500 and Michael Dunlop’s 2015 classic TT winning bike will be riding demonstration laps on the ring road.

Darren Langeveld, Coventry Motofest Race Director, said: “It’s the first time we have been able to run motorbikes on the Coventry Motofest circuit and this trio of iconic race bikes is a fantastic way to kick-off our two wheeled action at the event.

“We would like to thank both Steve Wheatman and Nathan Colombi for giving us the opportunity to run these renowned championship winning bikes from two of the world’s biggest bike race series, the Moto GP and Isle of Man TT, at our event.

“They are going to be running on the Motofest circuit and alongside an ex Barry Sheene RG500 on display. It should prove one of the two wheeled highlights of the weekend.”

If you’re attending and your bike is over 20-years-old you can apply to also get your bike on display at the event.
