#ride5000miles: Biking summer keeps on giving

1 of 3

Autumn is definitely upon us but there’s still some decent weather and great riding to be done… as our #ride5000miles members have proved this week.

Big-mile stars include Neil Moseley, who travelled 400 miles to watch the road racing from Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough – bringing his total miles achieved up to 6000.

Elsewhere, Ray Walton, 54, set himself the personal challenge of riding every day in September to help him get out on the bike more. Already nudging the 10,000-mile mark, journeys have included a ride on his Honda Gold Wing from Rochdale to Thirsk and back on Wednesday, September 27 to visit his sister – a journey lasting around 200 miles. He said: “I’ve lost 8lb doing this, which has been a bonus! It’s just been brilliant and it gives you that get up and go. It’s what I’ve always done – I’ve always ridden.

“It just felt like the right thing to do. My Gold Wing is not a bike for going around town, but I do and I love it!”

Duncan Saunders has also enjoyed a weekend away camping in Norfolk on his Honda VFR750, with his friend Tim Twigg. MCN’s very own sports team have also been racking up the miles this week, with MCN Sports Editor Michael Guy riding his KTM 1290 Super Adventure S long-term test bike to Aragon for the MotoGP.
