Spy pics show Husky Svartpilen 701 flat tracker is imminent

Husqvarna’s expanding range looks set to include another motorcycle in the very near future as MCN’s spy photographers have caught images of the new Svartpilen 701 during final shakedown (and very damp on one day) testing.

With the Svartpilen (Black Arrow) and Vitpilen (White Arrow) 401 models and also the Vitpilen 701 expected in UK dealers very soon, it was only a matter of time until the Svartpilen 701 completed the set. And here it is.

Unlike the 401 models, it appears as if Husky have chosen a slightly different path with the Svartpilen 701. Where the Svartpilen 401 is an urban enduro with 17-inch wheels, chunky tyres and tall bars, instead the Svartpilen 701 appears to have more of a flat track look with an upturned seat unit, lower bars and number board-inspired side panels. And possibly an 18-inch front wheel, but this is hard to tell from the pictures.

As on the 401 models, the rest of the bike is expected to be identical to its Vitpilen sibling, so that means the KTM 690 Duke’s 693cc single, which makes 73bhp, WP suspension and a full electronics package that includes a quickshifter, autoblipper, traction control and ABS.

Expect the Svartpilen 701 to be unveiled in November and arrive in dealers next spring. Sadly we also anticipate it will carry a similar £8899 price tag as the Vitpilen 701…
