Snow joke – motorcycle sales are up!

1 of 2

Despite some horrific weather doing its best to dampen enthusiasm, motorcycle sales actually increase year-on-year in February. A total of 3613 bikes were sold in the UK last month, a 5.3% increase on 2017 when 3430 were sold in the same period. That brings the total bike sales (excluding mopeds and scooters) to 8618 in 2018, a rise of 9.6% on 2017. And that’s despite snow, rain and general weather-related misery in February!

Honda was the best-selling manufacturer last month, shifting a total of 840 two-wheelers with hefty discounts and a 0% PCP deal on the Africa Twin helping it sell 59 units while the PCX125 scooter accounted for 139 sales. Once again, BMW’s R1200GS also made an appearance in the month’s best-sellers as 44 were sold out of BMW’s total of 233 bikes.

Overall, and including scooters and mopeds, 2018 has seen 9401 two-wheelers sold, up 7% on 2017 to date.

Let’s hope this trend is reflected in the March new-registration figures!
