Parkers Awards: Best Large Van and Best Electric Van winners revealed in association with MCN
Parkers – the definitive resource for car buying advice in the UK – have partnered with MCN to bring you the awards for the Best Large Van and Best Electric Vans in the prestigious Parkers New Car Awards 2022.
The winners are the MAN TGE and Toyota Proace Electric, and they are two of a total of 20 award winners revealed today (27 September) by Parkers.
The MAN TGE is a brilliant van that, despite its size, drives like a car, but offers a variety of lengths, heights and luggage area volumes. Where it’s a real winner is that it has access to MAN’s excellent 24/7 truck servicing network – which operates much longer hours and with a laser-focused determination to minimise vehicle downtime. The evidence we’ve seen shows that TGE operators can’t praise this highly enough.
Parkers van and pickup editor CJ Hubbard said: "Though technically identical to the also excellent Volkswagen Crafter, we’ve decided to single out the MAN TGE as our large van winner this year in recognition of all the good things we’ve heard about MAN’s outstanding aftercare service. With the extended opening hours befitting a truck manufacturer, MAN is better placed to get your van back on the road and back into action, reducing downtime and saving costs."
The winner of Best Electric Van, the Toyota Proace Electric, is also an impressive piece of kit. While it’s sold in fewer variants than its Peugeot, Citroen and Vauxhall cousins, it still provides the all-important, highly impressive maximum claimed driving range of 205 miles per charge from the larger battery version – which we feel is the most important thing for electric van buyers right now.
CJ Hubbard added: "Though the Proace Electric doesn’t offer quite the same range of models as three other closely related electric vans, like all Toyota commercial vehicles, it benefits from the new Relax 10-year warranty programme – putting it ahead of the rest of the current electric van pack. The impressive driving range and payload options seal the deal."
The winning vans have been tested rigorously by the Parkers.co.uk team, which judged the best large and electric vans on a combination of value, quality, reliability, cost-per-month on finance deals and fitness-for-purpose.
Keith Adams, Parkers.co.uk editor, added: "In this year’s New Car Awards, we’re excited to have come up with such an interesting selection of winners. We’ve taken what we know about what our users are viewing on Parkers, with the team’s combined 100+ years of editorial expertise. We’re more than happy to our winners – they’re all part of a brilliant line-up of cars."
Now in its fifth year, the Parkers New Car Awards 2022 continue to reflect the views of Britain’s car-buying public, with winners decided by a combination of the site’s expert reviewers’ verdicts in thousands of miles of road testing and the purchasing habits of the website’s 2.3+ million users actively involved in the buying process.
