A Ducati 916 has smashed its sales estimate at Silverstone Auctions, recording a UK record price at last month’s NEC Classic Motor Show.

The 1995 SP2 model, with just 2200 miles from new, sold for £42,750, which Silverstone Auctions have confirmed is a UK record.

The auction house is still seeking confirmation that the eye-watering price could also be a world record.

In total, 85% of the lots sold, with other bikes of note including a 1967 Triumph TR6C Trophy 650cc presented in factory-fresh condition, which sold for £14,063.

Additionally, a 1918 Royal Ruby ‘Russian Model’, which has been family owned since it was built and was the family’s main source of transport up until WWII when it was stored away in a cellar, achieved £21,375.
